OUR NKHATA BAY COMMUNITY

In everything we do - from the food we serve to the way Mayoka Village is built - we aim to support and protect the local community.

Our chalets, woodwork, and artwork are all created by local artisans, and we do our best to source ingredients from local farmers and markets. We always want to improve conditions for our fantastic staff and we support different community projects.

sustainability and environmental protection

At Mayoka, we are continuously working towards becoming more environmentally friendly. We have solar water heaters and solar lights, and we operate a biogas system that converts kitchen waste into energy.

We use compost toilets as part of our waste management system.

All remaining waste that we can’t recycle ourselves is collected by the local organisation Go Green.

We plant trees hand in hand with local communities in Nkhata Bay District and the local organisation CARMA (Climate Action and Resilience for Malawi).
